Artists Residency

 

The Olive Stack Gallery Artist's Residency began in 2015. Since then then I have received applications from established and emerging visual artists from around the world. Including artists from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, England, Germany, Kenya, Malawi, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland, Serbia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the USA. All eager to share the experiences that others have had in Listowel.

Listowel is a heritage town located in Co Kerry in the south west of Ireland. The historic town is close to the spectacular coastline of The Wild Atlantic Way. The Olive Stack Gallery is located on Main St, in the heart of town. Conveniently situated close to shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs and walking distance from the beautiful Childers Park, the river Feale and the newly opened Greenway. The gallery was established in 1998 and proudly celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2023! 

The residency program welcomes international visual artists specialising  in a variety of mediums and genres. Residencies last for a duration of one month (returning artists have an option to request a 2 month residency). The residency hosts two artists every month. Each artist is provided with a private bedroom and bathroom and a large shared studio above the gallery along with a kitchen/living area. Artists are responsible for their own travel expenses.

The residency continues to forge connections across continents and creative genres. Building new bodies of work illuminating the beauty of Listowel and its people. The ensuing results have been expansive and surprising. Artists have made fast and enduring friendships in the heritage town of Listowel. The residency continues to enrich both locals and visitors. As a result Listowel is fast becoming a favourite destination for a growing international family of artists!
